Alex Eala will continue her busy Tennis season at the 2026 Singapore Tennis Open after completing her US Open campaign in New York. The tournament will be held from September 21 to 27 at the OCBC Arena in The Kallang.
The event is part of the women’s tennis association Asian Swing and has been upgraded from WTA 250 to WTA 500 level. Eala will enter the tournament as one of its main attractions following a strong season that has raised her profile across Southeast Asia and the international Tennis circuit.
Eala Moves Forward After US Open Defeat
Eala reached the third round of the US Open before losing to close friend Iva Jovic. The American won their three-hour Tennis match, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The Filipina held a 4-2 lead in the deciding set but could not close the match. Jovic recovered and won the important points late in the contest to advance to the fourth round.
Although the defeat ended Eala’s run in New York, she will not have to wait long for another major opportunity. Singapore gives her a chance to recover, adjust her game and compete against another strong field.
Singapore Tennis Open Receives Major Upgrade
The Singapore Tennis Open made its debut as a WTA 250 event in 2025. Its promotion to WTA 500 status means the 2026 tournament will offer more ranking points, a larger prize fund and a stronger group of players.

Her return comes during the strongest season of her professional career. Eala reached a career-high world ranking of No. 18 and captured her first WTA Tour singles title at the DC Open. She defeated Pegula in the final to complete that breakthrough run.
The 21-year-old also reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and produced a solid US Open campaign. These results have given her more experience against top-ranked opponents and greater confidence on major Tennis courts.

Singapore is close to the Philippines and has a large Filipino community. Organizers expect many supporters to attend Eala’s matches at the OCBC Arena.
